Welcome to the Church of Our Saviour, a historic Episcopal Church in the Virginia-Highland area of Atlanta. Since our early days, this church has maintained a tradition of rich liturgical worship combined with up-to-date study of the scriptures and teaching of Christian life and witness. We have an outreach ministry within our local community which includes participation in various programs to support and help the needy. Being a part of the Diocese of Atlanta involves us in the wider outreach of the church both regionally and globally through the worldwide Anglican Communion.
Since 1924 we have maintained a tradition of worship (sometimes called Anglo-Catholic) which uses the Book of Common Prayer in its fullest and richest expression of the church’s liturgy. Our principal service is the Holy Eucharist or Mass which is celebrated on the Lord’s Day (and on certain weekdays) and which provides the focus for our parish life. Our Saviour is a sacramental church offering Baptism, Confirmation, Reconciliation and Healing as a witness to the presence and work of God amongst us in the Body of Christ and in the power of the Holy Spirit. We are also a teaching and learning church where the study of the scriptures and the preaching of God’s Word play a major role. While we cherish and maintain a Christian tradition entrusted to us from the time of the first followers of the Way, we continue in dialogue with the world around us as “we seek and serve Christ in all persons.” We welcome all those who bring to our community their gifts as well as their questions and needs. We believe that everyone has been endowed by God with a unique spirit of creativity and inquiry. We pray that He will give us all an “inquiring and discerning heart, the courage to will and to persevere, a spirit to know and love Him, and the gift of joy and wonder in all His works.”
The Church of Our Saviour lives as a Christian community based on Apostolic Order and Evangelical Truth.
